My profound gratitude goes to Dr. Jorge Mari, whose guidance and support have been indispensable throughout this project. From my undergraduate years to the present, Dr. Mari has been a pillar of support, nurturing my exploration of alternative community models and environmental humanities. His mentorship introduced me to critical theories, influential scholars, and transformative projects, shaping the foundation of this endeavor and my academic journey. Dr. Mari's insights have provided clarity and purpose to my inquiries into capitalism, development, and environmental concerns, fostering a deeper understanding of these complex issues and making me a better scholar, community organizer and eventual teacher.
Dr. Mari played a pivotal role in facilitating connections, one of which was with Dr. Palmar Álvarez-Blanco and her project, “Constelación de los Comunes” (CC, Constellation of the Commons). Dr. Álvarez-Blanco's groundbreaking work documents and analyzes the anticapitalist transition in Spain, centered on a "logic of the commons." Her project provides a template for mapping community-led commoning efforts, serving as both inspiration and a methodological framework for my own graduate project. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Álvarez-Blanco for her guidance, inspiration, and the rich theoretical and methodological insights she has provided within her own work. Those interested can explore Dr. Álvarez-Blanco's audiovisual archive at https://constelaciondeloscomunes.org/en/ and delve deeper into her theories and methods in her book "In Route With the Commons" (2020).
